DRD CNC PORTED HEADS
From Mild to Wild: Street, Off-Road, and Full Race
What is CNC?
CNC stands for "computer numerical control". Basically, computer driven machinery.
Computer software is used to generate code, to drive automated machines.
Why use a CNC machine?
CNC machines have repeat ability to .0001 of a inch, a human hair is .002 of a inch. In the past, head work was performed by hand, a very time consuming process, with far from perfect repeatability, and performance. Having exact repeatability, means, having a set of heads that are exactly the same,to optimize power output, hands down. How we start out is we take one of our hand ported heads, and digitize the head. This gives us data from the original head, so the head can be reproduced. The data from original head is sent to our MASTER CAM software. The data can be fine tuned if need, or modified, and a 3D parametric model is generated of the head and port. The model is used to create a tool path to machine the head, ports and chamber of the head. We use State of the art HAAS 5 axis CNC maching center, to machine exact ports and combustion chambers dimensions. We have many porting formats on file, to build a custom set of heads for your application. We are using new state of the art equipment to produce these heads, This technology is used today by race teams all over the world to produce the best results hands down, say bye bye to hand ported heads.
All heads were designed with aid of a flow bench to produce high air velocity, dyno and race proven hands down. All heads are set up for your application. We have over 25 years experience with head porting and engine building. All Heads are hand assembled, ready to bolt on out of the box, with new stainless steel valves, HD chromoly retainers, HI rev dual springs, valve job, bored and fly cut to your specs.
