Why use a CNC machine?
CNC machines have repeat ability to .0001 of an inch, a human hair is .002 of an inch. In the past, port work was performed by hand, a very time consuming process, with far from perfect repeatability, and far from equal power output on all individual cylinders. Having exact repeatability, means, having a set of heads that are exactly the same, to optimize power output, hands down. This technology is found in the most Elite performance and engine head shops all around the world, the same technology is used today by race teams all over the world to produce the best performance heads, hands down.
The myth’s and facts about CNC ported heads?
Some people think that cnc ported heads don’t perform as well as a hand ported head. The reason people think the hand ported head is better, because hand ported heads are finished by hand with a sanding roll and have a somewhat consistant sanded finish. The facts are ports are very inconsistant when ported by hand, end result is, all cylinders will not make the same power. With cnc ported ports, the surface finish can be controlled by the cnc programming, and every port is excatly the same. Our own cnc ports picked up 12 % efficiency, by having consistant cnc machined ports.
